Abergavenny travelled to Caldicot last Saturday to play an MBA fixture. Although winning on two rinks, they lost the game by 80 shots to 67.

The victorious rinks for Abergavenny were those of Gethin Hill and Anthony Moriarty. Gethin Hill’s rink got off to an excellent start, building a 14 shot lead after nine ends.

Although the Caldicot rink reduced this lead to five shots with a quarter of the game remaining, the Abergavenny then regained control to win by 20 shots to 14. Anthony Moriarty’s rink was two shots behind with six ends to play. They then scored ten shots, whilst conceding only four, over the remaining ends to win by 19 shots to 16.

The rinks of Matthew Vale and John Vale both got off to poor starts, both being six shots behind after eight ends. The rinks could win seven ends and six ends only and were therefore defeated by 25 shots to 18 and 25 shots to 10 respectively.
