AAODS stars are working 9-5 to bring their latest production to the stage of the Borough Theatre

Following last year’s hit performance of Sister Act, Abergavenny Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (AAODS) is putting the finishing touches to this year’s show ‘9 to 5 the Musical’.

It’s another modern show, with music written by Dolly Parton, which is to be performed at the Borough Theatre from May 2 – 6.

Based on events in a typical office environment of the 1970s, the show features last year’s Mother Superior Cecilia Bawler as Violet, the life force of the workplace, battling to stay ahead of the game despite being overlooked and belittled by her sexist boss Mr Hart, played by newcomer to the society Matt Bryant.

Along with her co-workers Judy (played by past member Lucy Richards who excelled as Florence in Chess) and Doralee (played by Kelsea Richardson a talented local performer with both AAODS and VIG) and following a mishap involving rat poison followed by kidnap, the three ladies get revenge for their boss’s harassment and unfair treatment!

With a catchy and upbeat score, featuring the title song ‘9 to 5’ and the bluesy ‘Heart to Hart’, plus a very funny script this show will have you foot stomping and laughing along.

Tickets are on sale now and if last year’s show is anything to go by may well be sold out, so you are urged to book in advance to avoid disappointment from the Borough Theatre Box Office 01873 850805 or online at boroughtheatreabergavenny.co.uk.
