The Force is with Glangrwyney Cricket Club

By Staff reporter in Cricket

Glangrwyney CC recently held their ‘NatWest CricketForce’ action day where enthusiastic members rallied in preparation for the coming season by tackling jobs big and small.

The cricket gods blessed the day with bright sunshine as sight-screens were painted and covers fitted. The nets were assembled and the changing rooms were given a good old scrub. The paint ran and banter flowed (along with the tea).

The day is traditionally the launch of the cricket year and a chance for the club to stretch its limbs after a long winter hibernation.

Training started on Wednesday, April 6, 6pm down at ‘The Camp’ and will continue throughout the season.

Cricket begins with a friendly against the touring team Stockington CC on Saturday April 22. The first league games take place the following week with Glangrwyney CC first team at home against the Dales and the Second Xl away to Hay on Wye.

Glangrwyney CC welcomes players young and old, experienced or novice.

Glangrwyney CC currently run two teams. The first team play a good standard of cricket in the first division of the Marches league. The second team play in the fourth division of the Marches league.

Players of all levels have the opportunity to play to their ability and develop.

The club also play some informal T20 games on Thursday evenings which are fun games designed to involve everyone. If you are looking to get involved or would like to sponsor the club please pop along or email
