Aber Ladies buck the losing trend

Abergavenny Women - 2

Cyncoed Ladies - 0

THREE defeats on the spin in three different competitions had left Abergavenny Women a little low on confidence, but within 60 seconds of kicking off against Cyncoed that all changed.

Kate Jeremiah linked up well with Lyndsey Davies to start and finish a move that ended in a goal and a dream start.

Cyncoed were dealt a blow on 20 minutes with a nasty ankle injury to their keeper which was to end her game prematurely.

The outfield player who replaced her was to make several important saves in a first half dominated by Abergavenny.

Ceri Hudson and Leilah King were dominant in the middle of the park, allowing wingers Jeremiah and Boyd freedom to bomb forward creating good chances for Amy Thrupp and Lyndsey Davies. Despite their best efforts it remained 1-0 at the break.

Having been in the same situation a month ago in the away fixture only to end up on the wrong side of a 4-1 result, Abergavenny were determined not to allow the same to happen on Sunday and came out flying in the second half.

Katrina French at centre back made several runs forward, causing panic in the Cyncoed defense, and with player of the match Kate Jeremiah now switched to the left, it was only a matter of time before the second goal was scored.

Captain Ceri Hudson hit a 30 yard free kick past the keeper to seal a superb victory and send her side back into the top three in the league.
