ABERGAVENNY Squash Club’s ‘D’ side lost by four matches to one against Monmouth’D’. Only Tony Davies was victorious, with Peter Sturgess managing to scrape a point against Monmouth’s junior champion, but elsewhere the team struggled and remain in sixth place.

Lee Nightingall lost 3-0

Rob Phillips lost 3-0

Chris Owen lost 3-0

Tony Davies won 3-1

Peter Sturgess lost 3-1

The ‘B’ team had a "top of the table" clash with Cardiff ‘B’, and unfortunately came unstuck, losing 4-1. Only Gareth Hughes-Jones was able to win his match, which proved to be tight. As a result, the team drop into third place, and will have to work extremely hard to get back into the promotion race!

Ellis Lawrence lost 3-0

Mike Logan lost 3-1

Gary Lawrence lost 3-1

Gareth Hughes-Jones won 3-2

Carl Whiteman lost 3-0

The ‘C’ team played the ‘E’ team, and the former won handsomely by five matches to nil. As ever, the atmosphere was very good, and the ‘E’ team tried hard, but the result was never in doubt! Both teams remain at the opposite ends of the table, with the ‘C’ team in prime position to gain promotion.

On the same night, the ‘A’ team went to Newport and just lost a competitive match by three matches to two. Lewys Hurst was his usual imperious self, winning easily 3-0, and he was ably supported by Steve Williams, who won a close match 3-2. However, it proved not to be enough, as their opponents ran out winners in the other three matches. The team remain in fifth place.
